Description

ESOMEPRAZOLE 40MG+ LEVOSULPRIDE 75MG A combination of esomeprazole (40mg) and levosulpiride (75mg) is primarily indicated for treating severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), also known as acid reflux, that does not respond to single-agent therapy. The dual action helps relieve symptoms like heartburn, stomach pain, and irritation more effectively. Primary indications for use Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): The medication treats the excessive production of stomach acid that flows back into the food pipe. This backflow can cause acidity, heartburn, and inflammation of the esophagus. Peptic Ulcer Disease: The combination can help treat stomach ulcers caused by acid. Functional Dyspepsia: This refers to chronic, persistent indigestion without an obvious cause. Levosulpiride, in particular, helps improve stomach movement to address symptoms like bloating and early satiety. Chronic Gastritis: The medication can help manage inflammation of the stomach lining. Nausea and Vomiting: By improving gut motility and emptying, the combination can help prevent nausea and vomiting associated with acid reflux. How it works The combination uses two different medications to tackle acid reflux from multiple angles: Esomeprazole: As a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), it blocks the enzyme in the stomach lining responsible for acid production, which significantly reduces the amount of stomach acid. Levosulpiride: This is a prokinetic agent that works by increasing the movement of the stomach and intestines. This improves gastric emptying and prevents the backflow of food and acid into the esophagus. Important safety considerations Since this is a powerful prescription medicine, it is crucial to follow your doctor's instructions. Medical supervision: This medication should only be taken under a doctor's supervision. The dosage and duration depend on your specific condition. Timing: For best results, it is typically taken once daily, about an hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. Long-term use: Extended use of esomeprazole may increase the risk of bone fractures and magnesium deficiency. Your doctor may recommend calcium and vitamin D supplements if you are on long-term treatment. Contraindications: You should not take this medicine if you have certain conditions, including epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, or severe liver or kidney problems. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: The combination is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol, as it can worsen drowsiness and increase acid production.
